Houston Feline Diagnostics
Understanding Your Cat’s Health on a Deeper Level
Houston Cat Hospital is here for you and your cat during your cat’s
time of need. If your cat is experiencing a health issue, our dedicated
team of cat lovers can help. As an
American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited animal hospital, we use the latest diagnostic technologies
to investigate what is causing your cat’s condition.
Diagnostic testing can also be useful in the course of your cat’s
regular care. When you bring your cat in for their routine wellness exams,
we will often order laboratory tests to check on their internal systems.
We use this information to establish your cat’s medical history
and help us down the road if they ever experience a more severe health issue.

State of the Art Diagnostic Testing
As an AAHA accredited animal hospital, we are proud to offer the latest
diagnostic technologies to keep on top of your cat’s health.
We are fully equipped to handle:
- Ultrasound – Ultrasound is a non-invasive tool for imaging of internal
organs and is used in combination with radiographs to diagnose certain
conditions such as heart disease and small intestinal disease. Ultrasound
can typically be performed on the same day and sedation is not usually
needed unless your cat is stressed or anxious.
- Radiographs – Houston Cat Hospital is equipped with the ability to
take diagnostic radiographs or x-rays. This imaging tool allows us to
identify many medical conditions and injuries. Radiographs can be helpful
in identifying a variety of diseases processes such as orthopedic changes
and/or injuries, lung abnormalities, intestinal obstructions and urinary
- Laboratory Services – We have the capability to perform in-house
blood work. Blood work is a tool used to look at systemic organ function.
The results can be obtained in 15 minutes! We also have the ability to
perform routine laboratory diagnostics such as FeLV/FIV testing, fecal
parasite screening and urinalysis.
A combination of diagnostics is often needed to determine the health issues
your cat may have, leading to the development of their treatment plan.
In-House Laboratory Testing
Our in-house lab is able to perform blood tests to check on your cat’s
organ function. Because we are able to run these tests in as little as
15 minutes, you will not need to wait for results from an outside lab
to proceed with treatment.
In addition to blood work, we are able to perform other diagnostic testing
for conditions like FeLV and FIV. We can also conduct fecal checks for
parasite screening and urinalysis for kidney and bladder disease.
